Elliot Abt, D.D.S., M.S., M.Sc. received a master’s degree in oral pathology and dental degree from the University of Illinois. Dr. Abt completed his dental residency training at Ravenswood and the University of Illinois Hospitals. From 1989-2004, Dr. Abt was the director of the dental residency programs at Ravenswood and Illinois Masonic Medical Center. He then received a master’s degree in evidence-based healthcare from Oxford University. Dr. Abt is an adjunct associate professor of oral medicine at the University of Illinois and directs the journal club for dental residents at Illinois Masonic Medical Center. He teaches research methodology and biostatistics at the American Dental Association (ADA) Advanced Evidence-based Dentistry (EBD) Workshop. Dr. Abt has co-authored several ADA Clinical Practice Guidelines and is an instructor in the ADA EBD Faculty Development Workshops. Dr. Abt is a past-chair of the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs and maintains a private practice in general dentistry.

Robert Weyant, MS, DMD, DrPH serves as  Professor and Chair of the Department of Dental Public Health at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Pittsburgh. He is also an professor of epidemiology at the Graduate School of Public Health. He received a master's degree in public health in 1978 and a dental degree in 1982 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. In 1991 he earned a doctoral degree in epidemiology from the University of Michigan. Dr. Weyant is a former Navy Dental Officer and V.A. dentist. He has been a diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health since 1987, and also is a past president of the American Association for Public Health Dentistry. 

Dr. Weyant has been teaching Evidence-based Healthcare for over 20 years  and has published extensively in the EBHC literature.  He sas acknowledged as the inaugural recipient of the American Association for Dental Research/American Dental Association (AADR/ADA) Evidence-Based Dentistry Faculty Award and is recognized with this award for his life-long contributions to evidence-based dentistry.
